Who we are

Our website address is: www.the-cricketers.co.uk. The domain name and hosting is paid for and administrated by a private homeowner resident at The Cricketers.

Our mission

We aim to provide residents old and new with a friendly online community and resource.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

During the registration process, the personal data we collect is a Username, an Email address and a Password.

Your Username (or ‘account name’) is your individual identity on the website. It is is the name you would like to be known as, and how you will appear to other people. Your Username is used when logging into your account and will be used when posting in the forums. It may also be displayed on other areas of the website such as the Members page or if you comment on a News item, etc.

Your Email address is used to verify a new account. It is also used to automatically inform you of topic, forum and message updates which you have opted in to.  Should you forget your password, your Email address will be used to provide you with a link to reset it. On rare occasions your Email address may be used by the website administrator to contact you directly for the purposes of sending information which is considered important. Your Email address is never shared and it is not viewable by any users of the website, registered or not.

As with other websites, your Password is used to provide security and prevent unauthorised access to your account.

Your Password is hashed before being securely stored in our database. Hashing is a common way of encrypting passwords. Because your password has been encrypted it cannot be retrieved. If you forget your password, you can reset it via the email address you provide during registration.

After registering on the website, optional information which you may chose to share on your profile page is stored for the purposes of being viewable to other registered members who are logged in only.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You can also manually delete your own account by logging in and clicking your profile picture. Then, navigate to Settings, Delete Account.
